Anybody Seen A Hat?
Posted 23 July 2012, 12:02 pm NDT
As the water level continues to fall the salmon continue to enter the river.

There are fresh fish coming into the river constantly, but they are not holding very long before they continue up river. It seems that you will only get a few casts over a fish before it leaves the pool and moves further up towards the spawning grounds.

One of our young guests had a memorable experience yesterday while fishing Back River.

He had hooked a nice grilse and was trying to get it into the boat. The fish was not very co-operative. After a little while he managed to get it closer to the boat.

The fish then jumped over the back of the boat and in process caused the fly line to take his hat off of his head and into the water. This was quite funny, except he had been using the hat to hold his flies....oops.

One of the guides told him later he had seen a large salmon jump out of the water wearing his Pratt Falls Salmon Lodge hat. Of course everyone had a great chuckle.
