May Flies Dance
Posted 12 July 2010, 2:21 am NDT
As the day draws to a close a new hatch of May Flies Dance in the setting sun. Quite an amazing site.

Almost as amazing as the tail walk of one large salmon who battled for almost 1/2 an hour leaping 4 to 5 feet through the air before finally surrendering to a gentle release to continue its upstream journey to the spawning grounds.

Many spectators of this thrilling struggle comment that the have never seen a salmon put on a show quite like this one. A true testament to the power and agility of the Salmon that return in abundance each year to the Eagle River.

The number of Grilse landed increases daily. One angler lost a fly line to aggressive salmon. Was it a large salmon or equipment failure? Either way it left him with a puzzled look and a reel with nothing but backing.

The concensis in that the fish that stole the line was not as large as the one that broke his rod in 3 pieces earlier in the week.

With the new Moon tomorrow night the promise of very hot action tomorrow has everyone excited with anticipation.
