River turns to fall, we see a salmon, trout action spectacular
Posted 26 June 2014, 6:21 pm NDT
This has been our first ever week without landing a salmon at our lodge. However our guests leave in good spirits. They have had a very relaxing week. Enjoyed some great comraderie with the guides, and we have had spectacular trout fishing. No doubt the salmon are late this year. We have been talking to other camps on different rivers and the same story seems to be the case throughout NL.

There are a few trickling in however. We heard yesterday that a salmon was caught at Devil's Gap, 16 miles upriver, and our guide Bob, and his guest seen a fish porpoise and jump at the bottom of Lem's Lane today but didn't have any luck hooking it.

The river is still very high, but is slowly dropping now. We say goodbye to our first group tonight and tomorrow morning and welcome a new group tomorrow a mix of new faces and a lot of old friends as well. We certainly hope the salmon find their way home very soon and the action picks up to a pace more like we are used to. We will keep you posted!
