Finally, our guests see the first bit of salmon action for this year. It has been a tough first 10 days to our season with the late arrival of fish.

Today, one of our guests hooked up in Back River, and a group of 6 went to White Bear River and landed 3. many more fish have been spotted and rose over the last two days but the success rate reflects on the river still being high and fish just starting to come in.

Reports from other nearby rivers are leading us to believe that the runs are really just starting. Sandhill River is now getting large salmon in the counting fence, and Southwest Brook counting fence had reported 3 fish up to yesterday. A solid week at 'The Gap', 16 miles upriver reported one fish hooked and another rose.

The river has fallen 4-5 inches a day and is shaping up nicely. There are showers in the forecast for Cartwright and Goose Bay. We are expecting that the results will improve greatly by the end of this week, and next week's guests should be in for some great fishing!
