What a fantastic start to the week
Posted 20 July 2014, 8:38 pm NDT
We welcome a family from Belgium today to Pratt Falls Salmon Lodge. Several of them are repeat guests, however this year the entire group is family ranging in age from 11 to 84! And what a beautiful day to start off their week. It has been a very hot day here on the Eagle, and despite the brightness and heat, as well as this crew being jet lagged...the results have been awesome!

Eagle stopped rising overnight and right now is holding at around 2.55m. It is a high level and makes fishing a little more difficult, but as long as it is not rising and with the sheer numbers of fish coming through the river right now the action is very good!

So far, this day is filled with the excitement of rookie anglers who have never wet a fly getting into their very first atlantic salmon! I'm sure that most of you reading this report remember exactly how that feels and we are very proud to have the privilege to help make that happen for new anglers. Our guides have been heavy into instruction mode today for the newcomers and the efforts are paying off. Below are photos of our guide, Theodore with repeat young angler, Simon, and his cousin, Charlotte who wet her first fly today! He hooked and landed the grilse he is holding. She hooked and landed the grilse she is holding, her first ever altantic salmon! Congratulations young lady! We hope you hook many more throughout the week. The rest of the family is also having great success on the start of their week.

This is what it's all about. We absolutely love to see new anglers introduced to the sport, and we confidently say that in the capable hands of our guides and on this river is a great place to start! Stay tuned, we are expecting a great week of fishing to continue.
