Rune does the unthinkable...hooks a seal! (larger version)
After a brief rise the river seems to have crested and is again continuing to fall. Water temperatures have fallen quite a bit as well.

Our guests continue to have success but it seems slower than normal for this time of year.

Well, I'm not sure if anyone will believe this story or not but it finally happened. We had an angler hook a seal. How or why I don't know. I can only assume that it was pursuing a fish that was rising for a fly and got inadvertently hooked.

Well as you can imagine the seal took off like a torpedo and after about 50M (150 ft) the hook straightened out and it got away. Hopefully it taught him a lesson and he stays off the river in the future, but somehow I doubt it. Sorry, I don't have a photo....but we do have an artists rendition of the story...

Just before posting this entry I was speaking with the guides who indicate that there are quite a few fish showing in the river. One guide told me he saw more fish this morning before breakfast than he did since Friday. Good news indeed!
