Fresh Fish

Yesterday was changeover day. Our departing guests had slow fishing for this time of year, yet all parties had hookups during there stay, and had a wonderful time at camp and lots of praise for their guides and staff. Thank you to them, and we are glad to see that some are already rebooked for next year!

Our new guests all had success last night during their fishing session, and Theo reported several fresh fish sightings in the airforce pools. A great start to their week and we are hoping it continues!

The weather is calling for heavy rain inland, and it is raining on the lower Eagle this morning. The river is still at a very good fishing level and has only dropped about 10-12 cm in the last week. No doubt it will rise with this rain. Water temps have been cool all week ranging from 62-64F.

I had the opportunity to speak with a pilot from neighboring camp, Rifflin' Hitch, yesterday evening. His report was much the same, but they also fish Paradise River and are now hooking fresh fish there. It is quite late for Paradise so it leads me to believe that the theory that all of the late sea ice and plentiful bait may indeed have turned off some of our early grilse runs and they are now coming in. Hard to say, but that is the opinion of many former commercial salmon fishermen in Cartwright as well.
