Terry with a nice catch of fresh running salmon and brook trout (larger version)
We left camp the middle of August with a flooded river and hopes of getting back to see if there were fish running in on the Labour Day weekend. Terry and Dave were lucky enough to make it back and the fishing didn't disappoint. They had the whole lower river to themselves and hooked 13 salmon over 3 days, and the sea-run trout were plentiful! The guys reported beautiful fresh silver grilse, and had the pictures to show for it.

The river level and temperatures were excellent, and the boys had a great weekend, they also went for a day trip to the White Bear and hooked a few fish there as well.

Eagle River is world famous for incredible July fishing, but this time of year is almost like our best kept secret. But we don't really want it to be a secret! There is a great opportunity from mid August to September for those of us that like less people and still a great fishing experience. So, keep that in mind when you plan your next fishing vacation! Terry and Dave had a great taste of it over the last few days...next year, I'm going!!
