Big water, big fish, the 2021 season begins!

Hey all! We hope you have wintered well and didn't catch the Covid blues. We are thrilled to be fired up for another season here on the beautiful and bountiful Eagle River. Mother Nature spat on our predictions, as we have been saying the river would be low for the season start this year, seeing the spring thaw happened about 6 weeks early. Not the case. More than enough water is what we have, but it has been dropping at a good pace the last 36hrs or so. There were some hard showers today, so we are really hoping not much fell on the plateau.
Even though the high water presents a challenge whereby there's not a lot of good holding pools, there are still some fish being caught. Big fish. Strong fish! One of our friends here with us hooked up with a huge one yesterday and lost the entire line off his reel. A few head shakes, and it took off screaming down river leaving him with just a bare spool!!
Hugh and Dave got into this beauty today. Everyone over the last couple days has been into some fish.
More guests arrive in just a couple days, so we are hopeful the river drops more and they get treated to some large salmon!
