River is low, but fishing is stable

It seems that even though the fishing is tougher than normal, it has become better than earlier this week. Thursday and Friday we had guests and guides report fresh fish still coming in the river (so fresh that lice had not fallen off) and the last two mornings and evenings the bathtub has produced some good fishing. In the bright hot mid-day sun it is very hard to get action out of the salmon but they are holding in the pools, too lazy to move!

Our group that left yesterday had a couple of tough days in the mid week when it seemed the fish took advantage of the one shower of rain we had to move up river, but everybody ended the week on a high note when fresh fish started taking fly on Wednesday.

For the rest of the season water conditions will tell the tale. We could certainly use some rain to raise and cool the river. The long range forecast is more hot weather so that is working against us.

The crew at camp are doing camp improvements this week. But there will be some evening fishing for sure, so stay tuned and hopefully the river will hold water and provide some good August fishing that the Eagle is known for.
