2014 Season Beginning

Hello folks!! It has been a long cold winter and a long spring with lots of pack ice on the coast. It led us to worry that fish would be late, but we have not been hearing any reports to indicate that and our own fish sightings have been pleasantly surprising. We came to camp on June 3rd to start renovations and have been seeing the odd fish jumping while working around outside at the lodge. We have been too busy to do much testing the waters. However on Father's Day, also the season opening day in Labrador, some of the guides went out and Nelson hooked a large fish at Diplomats. That was a promising sign for the 15th of June.
We have out first guests this Friday, and we are looking forward to hosting them for the first time and hoping Eagle produces like she has for the last 4 years in this time slot. Incredible large salmon angling was to be had the last 4 years in a row during this coming week.
For those of you returning, we think you will be pleased to see our commitment to re-investing in your experience at our lodge. We have a new fleet of fishing boats custom made to provide a safe, stable, and comfortable fishing experience. We have completely rebuilt the foundation on our main lodge which might not be really noticeable to most guests, but we are sure glad to have it done! :) And a new front deck, two level, so handrails don't impede the view from the lodge, and a large area for relaxing with an incredible view of the falls.
So, we begin what will be hopefully a fun filled season for all. We will certainly do our best to make your fishing adventure the best one of your life. Stay tuned to the Eagle River Report, because from here on in we will be reporting on the fishing, river conditions, telling a few stories, and sharing a few lies from guests who had the big one but it got away! :)
