River rising, Large Salmon action continues, incredible trout fishing
Posted 08 July 2014, 2:50 pm NDT
What a morning here at Pratt Falls Salmon Lodge. Large fish continue to dominate the angling scene. Pictured below are three pics from a battle that Craig had right in front of the lodge with a lovely fish this morning.

Also, this morning a few of us went out in the bay for some trout fishing. The sea run brook trout are in prime condition now. Fat and full of flavor so we wanted to get a few to smoke for an evening treat with drinks. Well...it didn't take long. The trouting action was fast a furious. we landed several trout around 2lbs in size and had our bag limit in about an hour, and they are now in a brine soak in preparation for the smoker. We will post pictures of them later.

It's a beautiful day here today. Temps are hovering around 19-20c. The river rose more overnight and continues to rise this morning. Judging by the rocks in front of the lodge it has risen 6-7 inches total so far. All of the indicators lead us to believe that we are in for some fantastic fishing for a while yet!
