Beat prepares shore lunch of fresh salmon and flummies (larger version)
As we recover from the travel impacts on Covid 19, 2022 was a short year for us here at PFSL. We've been off the river since August 4th, and we're missing it so very much, and know that we have missed out on some nice weather and good fishing.

Our neighbours down river at Eagle Club have had some good August fishing. The group of 5 there now due to depart tomorrow have over 40 fish on their scorecards. Very decent numbers, and for sure a few sea run brook trout in the river as well by now. We had caught a few dandy trout prior to our August 4 departure so I imagine that has only gotten better.

The river is in good shape. Over the last 7 days it went from around 2m to 1.7m in level, or around 200 down to 130 cubic meters of flow. This is perfect fishing level, especially when rod pressure on the river is lower than peak July pressure, and you can pick around to some honey holes.

The weather is calling for some hot days and cool nights with little rain in sight. The cool nights will help keep the water temperature fishable, but a spritz of rain will be needed to freshen it up again soon for any late season anglers still headed to the Eagle.

I'm going to leave you with this shore lunch photo of Beatle having a 'Dayboil Day' in pre-covid August 2019. Beatle whips up a delicious meal of salmon and flummies at a shore lunch for his guests.
