Action picks up, trouting, and an exciting flight!!
Posted 13 July 2012, 12:16 pm NDT
The last day for our departing group was a great day! The river is now in healthy condition with cooler water temps and high water. Last night, was productive with good fishing action reported in many pools. "The Slick", "Sandbar", "Broken Rubber", all produced multiple salmon and grilse yesterday evening. Back River is now fishing and the bathtub is nothing but a white foam where our boats were anchored last week!

For a little switch-up yesterday afternoon Dwight took 3 guests out in Sandwich Bay to do some trouting. The action was excellent with many 3 lb sea run brookies! They are packed full of shrimp and the meat color is bright pinkish orange. Very healthy trout. They are in the smoker today and will be a tasty treat.

Everybody was bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning at 5am as our changeover happened in the wee hours of the morning to work with the tides. Believe it or not the plane had some excitement with icing on the floats today!! Cool temps dipped to -5 Celsius at cruising altitude and made for a bit of a bumpy ride. The seasoned bush pilots with Air Labrador handled it with no problems and all arrived safe and sound! Fishing starts at 1pm and they are all excited to wet lines. Good luck to this group. We think it will be an excellent week fishing and no doubt a week of great memories.
