I wouldn't say that this was a perfect fishing week here at the lodge, but I'll tell you what… For the conditions and early season fishing this group did well. Weather delayed their arrival by half a day, weather forced us to do a road and boat changeover today, and the rains prior to this departing groups arrival drove the river into a rising state for nearly their entire stay. Not to mention the two scorching bright days we had on the weekend. Despite those conditions, everyone hooked up, and the highliner of this group hooked 9 fish, all large. There are very few grilse caught. 2, I believe! The rising water made for little holding in pools so anglers were depending on the fresh sculls of fish coming through on the building tides with this full moon we just had. The fresh sculls did provide some good action though, especially when we could time it for mornings and evenings to beat the heat and brightness of the day. The large fish put a lot of smiles on guest faces this week and some great stories for the memory bank, and that's what it's all about!

After the river plateaued for about 12 hrs it started rising again slowly ever since. We are looking forward to seeing it plateau again now and slowly drop to improve the fishing as the large run continues and the grilse action starts to pick up soon we expect. The Back River and Broken Rubber has started fishing again with the increase in water. and a huge shout out to our friend, Rob, for the laser engraved wooden signs that now mark some of our favourite pools heading up Back River. Guides Pool, Ford's Rock, The Horsehoe, and Dog Park all have some pretty neat new signage. After a couple scorching days the water temp had reached around 67-68F in the high sun. That has since cooled again to around 62 with this cool foggy weather. Great fishing weather! Just not great flying weather!

The new group in are all repeats with the exception of one new friend brought into the group. We know they will have success, as long time guest Lee, and several others were already into fish after their arrival yesterday! Great little video of Lee playing his on our Instagram.
We leave you with this photo of guest, Lantz, playing this spunky beauty at the Air Force pools. Photo cred to his fishing partner, Jason. These guys had a great week, and this is an awesome snap of the action!
